The world’s best timber-housing know-how is now here.
This is the story of two threads, and of the friendship that tied them together.
One thread begins in Piteå.
The other on Finnish building sites.
Neither company was built by the stock market or by capital. Lindbäcks is owned by the same family in its fourth generation, Nordevo by its own people. The story begins with two separate threads, one of them a hundred years longer to start with.
The sawmill fires up in Piteå.
A family company is born on the western shore of the Gulf of Bothnia, and the know-how starts to gather: hand by hand, house by house, generation by generation.
The future builders are born.
Nordevo doesn’t exist yet. Its future builders are being born and living out their childhoods, while next door the sawing is already in its second generation.
A world first: homes off a production line.
Lindbäcks starts building apartment homes industrially: indoors, in the dry, to the millimetre. No one had done it before.
The builders found international construction companies.
The children have grown into builders. Nordevo’s future people found and lead international construction businesses, gathering know-how in Finland and around the world.
Europe’s largest timber-housing factory.
The whole factory sits under one roof in Piteå, and the line turns out around 3,500 modules a year. A hundred years of know-how, now as industrial precision.
Nordevo!
The builders found their own company and own it themselves. The goal is clear from day one: Finnish construction has to be capable of better.
Two strong threads. Still apart.
Finland versus Sweden.
As always.
Before Nordewood, Juuso Hietanen and Fredrik Hemborg worked at the same company. Juuso looked after Finland, Fredrik looked after Sweden. The two of them got along fine. Between the countries, though, there was always a healthy rivalry.
So Juuso and Fredrik made a bet: which country sells more? If Sweden wins, the Finns eat surströmming. If Finland wins, the Swedes eat mämmi.
Over the years, the contest grew into a friendship. Their paths parted later, when Juuso founded Nordevo and Fredrik moved to Lindbäcks. The connection held, though, and through it the people at both companies got to know each other too.
Eventually a question arose, bigger than the old country match: what if, together, we built a world even our grandchildren could one day be proud of? It didn’t stay a private musing between the two of them, and the answer soon started to look like a new company.
From that knot, Nordewood begins.
One knew how.
The other knew where.
Lindbäcks brings the way to build.
A hundred years of lessons: factory precision, industrial routine, and the experience of thousands of homes already built. This is world-leading know-how.
Nordevo brings Finland.
People who have led construction here and abroad for decades. They know what kind of homes this place needs.
Straight to the top of the world.
Lindbäcks’s level isn’t just the top of Sweden. It’s a level the rest of the world is still reaching for. Normally you walk there over years of learning: first attempts, experiments, and lessons paid for in mistakes. With Nordewood, Finnish timber building starts right at the top.
It isn’t a company that takes this leap. Finnish timber building takes it.
Companies don’t build homes.
People do.
Each company is owned by its own people, and it shows: homes designed and built by people with a name, a signature touch, and years of routine on both sides of the Baltic.

Two builders.
One direction.
The first homes are already on the drawing board.
Nordewood is aiming for the top of Finnish timber construction, and from there out into the world: ready to join Ukraine's reconstruction, and later the rest of Europe.
